2016 Sheep and Meat / Dairy Goat Field Day

The livestock agents from Bladen, Cumberland, Hoke, and Robeson counties will be putting on a field day for sheep, meat goat, and dairy goat producers on Saturday, March 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This Sheep and Goat Field Day will be an excellent opportunity to learn and receive information on sheep and goats. Topics will include the following:

• Selecting breeding does and bucks
• Culling Techniques
• Artificial Insemination Demonstration and Practice
• Estrus synchronization
• Feeding dairy goats
• Udder care and management
• Raw milk guidelines
• Milking machine demonstration

The field day will also include a youth component that highlights selecting breeding/cull does and bucks. St. Pauls’ Farmers Exchange, Inc., will sponsor handouts, door prizes, and snacks provided during the field day.
