County of Hoke / City of Raeford Volunteer Appreciation Recognition Held

The annual County of Hoke/City of Raeford Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Hoke County Cooperative Extension Center. Volunteers were recognized and honored with dinner, certificates and plaques.

Keith Walters, County Extension Director with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, welcomed everyone. Chairman James Leach, Hoke County Commissioners, Mayor Pro-Tem Robert Conoly, City of Raeford, and Jodie Bryant, Public Relations of Hoke County School Board, brought greetings. The invocation was lead by Dr. Steve Castle of Raeford United Methodist Church. Volunteers in each category received a certificate and the winner in each category also received a plaque. Jodie Bryant explained why each of the nominees were nominated in their category and handed out the certificates and plaques. James Leach and Robert Conoly congratulated each nominee and winner. Jodie Bryant brought closing remarks. Special thanks were extended to the County of Hoke, City of Raeford, North Carolina Cooperative Extension and Hoke County Schools for sponsoring this event each year. Thanks were also given to the committee of Keith Walters, Debbie Humphrey, Cathy James, Betty Smith, Stella Edens and Jodie Bryant and D & S Catering for the delicious dinner.

The evening’s nominees and winners were:  Individual Category –winner Judith Soto; Senior Citizen Category – winner Homer Tuttle; Disaster Category – winner Monica Toledo; Faith-Based Category – winner Roger Burns; Kay Thomas Category nominees were Amy Locklear and Reba Locklear and the winner was Reba Locklear.
