The Hoke County Cooperative Extension Center gives our county's residents easy access to the resources and expertise of North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to Hoke County citizens. Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Service with a forward by North Carolina State First Lady Mrs. Susan Woodson is a 300 page coffee table quality book highlighting the past of Extension Home Demonstration and the impact of Family and Consumer Sciences and its Extension & Community Association volunteers. Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Service is available at the Hoke County Extension Center. The $40.00 fee supports the Family and Consumer Sciences Program.

Onions Onions can be started from seed, sets, or transplants. Starting from seed requires about 6 weeks to produce a good sized transplant indoors before transplanting outdoors and would be too late for the plant to form a bulb in the garden.
